Martin Margiela is a first designer of famous fashion bland named “Maison Margiela”. He was born in 1957 at Genk, Belgium. In 1977 , he entered Antwerp Fashion Depatment. While he was a student of this school , he once held a joint fashion show with Dries Van Notten, Ann Demulemester and Drik Bikkembergs ,which are famous fashion designer. These designer are called as Antwerp six Because of their accomplishment.

It is said that he was affected by Rei Kawakubo , designer of comme des garcon , Japanese famous fashion bland. After graduating school , He had worked under Jean-Paul GAULTIER as an assistant and , in 1988 , he established the fashion bland named Maison Martin Margiela. In 1989 , His first collection made its debut In Paris. His clothes are known as”destroy collection” represented by Tabi boots. He liked to use remaking , damaging and painting in his collection. And he declared that my collection aimed at de-mode. It impact on fashion industory of those days.

In 1988 , He held a joint show with comme des garcons by Rei Kawakubo who Margiela respected. And from 1997 to 2003 , He worked as a creative director of HERMES , a one of the most important Fashion Bland all over the world. In 2008 , he retired from his own Bland without annoucing. After his retiring , John Galliano who was once a creative director of christian dior have taken over his Bland.
